Which card should I send?

My sister-in-law is currently living an absolute nightmare.Last Thursday night her 81 year mother was beaten to death in her own Arizona home by an intruder.My sister- in- law has been in Arizona,speaking to the police,etc,and is coming back here to Ohio tomorrow.This Thursday happens to be her birthday.I plan to send her flowers and a sympathy card,and I also have her birthday card.Should I send the birthday card later?(as I am certain that celebrating anything at all is the last thing that she wants to do right now:*(

Which card should I send?
Send her a generic "covers all the bases" card with a gift certificate for a spa day, this woman needs some real help relaxing right now.


Perhaps family can pitch in if you need help affording it.
Reply:Go ahead and send the birthday card and mention something memorable between the two of you that will make her smile. It will be a nice diversion.
Reply:Send the birthday card anyway. She is very vulnerable right now. Not a good to to "forget" her birthday!
